Police: Gardner teen’s death was a homicide

The death of Gardner teen Dakota DeRemus was ruled a homicide today. The 16-year-old had a heart disease and had been involved in a fight with another person Monday, Gardner police said. A person of interest who also is a minor has been identified and taken into custody. Police are conferring with the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office about possible charges.
